Cooper our Therapy Dog

We are very excited to introduce you to a member of our Coxhoe Primary School family.

Cooper is a Golden Retriever and was born on 14th January 2020.

He has successfully completed his specialist therapy training with 'Pets as Therapy' and is now a registered therapy dog.

Please read our School Dog Policy to see our reasons for having a therapy dog as well as frequently asked questions:

Autumn

Cooper has been hard at work this term supporting children with transition into their new classes. He has worked with almost all year groups now and has comforted children as they talked about the challenges and worries that a new school year brings.

Some children have continued to work on overcoming their fear of dogs by spending more time with Cooper. We are so proud and love to share this progress with families.

Hard at work with Year 3 and 4

This week I have been very busy working with some children in Years 3 and 4.

I listened to some of their beautiful reading and even got tummy rubs at the same time!

After that, I went for a walk in the village and came back for a snooze whilst some more children joined me for their pastoral group.

I am excited to work with Year 5 soon!

I'm Back!

September 2021

I am so excited to be back after being away for such a long time! Look how big I am! You might have seen me exploring in and around school with a grown up as I get used to my surroundings again.

I am so excited to start working with you all again. I can't wait to listen to you read, go for walks and help you out when you're finding your day a little tricky. I still love cuddles just as much as I did when I was a puppy!

Cooper's first day at school

June 2020

Cooper came to school for some transition time today and loved meeting some of his work colleagues and exploring his new environment. He especially liked getting treats from Mrs Bartle and Mr Coils!

Cooper is growing!

April 2020

Cooper is growing more and more every day! He is now 13 weeks old and is huge! His training at home is going well and he has lots of tricks under his belt including sit, paw, hi-5, wait and even spin! What a good boy!

Settling in at home

March 2020

Cooper was born in the Lake District and was collected by Mrs Barron when he was 9 weeks old. He has settled into his new home beautifully and is already showing how clever he can be! We are very excited to see him slot into our daily routine in school.

Coronation Day!

A huge thank you to one of our lovely Coxhoe families for Cooper's wonderful coronation bandana. He wore it proudly for the King's coronation and received many compliments throughout the day. Doesn't he look handsome?

Whole School Cooper Writing Day!

On Wednesday 8th June, we enjoyed our whole school writing day. All of the children across school worked very hard to create amazing adventure stories all about me! I loved visiting each of the classes throughout the morning to hear everyone's fantastic ideas.

I was lucky enough to have some stories read aloud to me! 'Super Cooper' definitely has a ring to it! Take a look at our hard work. We are hoping to collate all of the stories in our very own 'The Adventures of Cooper' story book!

Where are all of the boys and girls?

July 2020

I'm just waiting for all of my new friends...

I can't wait to meet you all in September!

Getting busy!

June 2020

Cooper has enjoyed coming into school each week to get to know all of his new friends. He has been getting busy working with Miss Dunkley in the office although isn't quite ready to take any calls yet!

As you can see by the huge smile on his face, he loves to spend time getting lots of cuddles too!

Check out my tricks!

April 2020

After many requests from children and families to see Cooper's tricks, we decided to record them all for you and upload them on to his page. He is such a clever boy! See what you think! He can't wait to meet you all!
