Summer Term

Circus Skills

We absolutely loved learning different circus skills from a professional circus performer. We practised juggling, stilts, plate spinning, diablo and a pedal stepper. Morpurgo enjoyed requesting circus tricks.

Segedunum Fun!

Morpurgo had a wonderful time at Segedunum, Roman fort. We started the visit off by exploring the museum and spotting artefacts we have been learning about in history. We enjoyed riding the horse chariot and being real Roman soldiers. After that, we had a chance to visit the tower and look at the Roman fort from above. We used our observational art skills to draw what we could see. Once we were finished, we made our way to the fort and even had a chance to have a Roman battle!

Dojo Dip Rewards!

it's that time again! More dojo dip rewards have been chosen and Miss Watkins and Mrs Topping were lucky enough to be chosen to have their faces painted! What fantastic artists we have in Morpurgo!

Potting Beds!

It was so much fun planning, designing and potting our planter beds. We included strawberries, tomatoes and some sunflowers. Before we did this, we needed to make sure we had the knowledge of how exactly to look after our potting beds. Try asking us some questions!

Class Museum!

Morpurgo had a wonderful time showcasing some of the things we have been learning this year. We taught our parents about Hinduism, S Plans, handwriting, functions of a plant, circuits and more! Out parents were particularly good at yoga! Wonderful day had by all!

Road Safety TRUCK DAY!

BEEP! BEEP! We had a wonderful time getting up close to a truck today. it was eye opening to realise how big trucks are and how important road safety is. We explored the vision that truck drivers had and what they can hear! We will definitely be mindful when we see them in the future! Climbing into the cabin was great fun!

Exciting English

To get us excited for our new book, we did a hook into the book lesson. We had to use our best investigator skills to try and work out the links between the artefacts, pictures and words. We explored every clue before we unwrapped our new book! We predicted it was about the Romans but the dormouse was a surprise! Our new book is called The Romans: Gods, Emperors and Dormice. If you ask anyone in Morpurgo about the Roman creation story, they will blow your socks off!

Spring Term

Easter Fun!

Today , we have been having some Easter fun! We started with an Easter quiz, followed by a class egg competition, a bunny hop around the yard and then spent the afternoon on an Easter egg hunt and making beautiful Easter baskets. We have had an egg-celent day! Happy Easter to all!

DT Drop Down

This term we have been learning about links and linkages. By using our knowledge of how they work, we were able to make our very own model with a working linkage.

Science

This term we have been learning all about plants! We are now experts on the parts of a plant and their functions, why don't you ask us? As we know the roots carry water and nutrients to the flower so we did an experiment to see if we put a flower in food colouring, would it change the colour of the petals. The answer is YES!

Science topic - Electricity.

This half term we have been learning all about electricity. We looked at different appliances which use electric and are powered by batteries and we made some circuits whilst learning about the components within them. We had lots of fun! We also learned about how to stay safe around electrics and why it is important  to save power.

World book day!

Today we celebrated World Book Day, I’m sure you will agree the children all look incredible!

Music

This is half term we have been learning all about the different parts of music. From the dynamics to the rhythm. We used instruments to create our own pieces of music in small groups, it was so much fun!

Dojo Dip Rewards - Face Painting.

As a reward for getting 50 dojos, some children chose to paint their teacher’s faces! I’m sure you will agree, they have done an amazing job.

Autumn Term

Christmas Fun

Over the last month, Morpurgo have been having lots of Christmas fun. Buddy the elf came to visit us and has been up to some very naughty things. We enjoyed decorating the Christmas tree (even though Buddy pulled it down). Singing ‘Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer’ at the church for the Christingle was so much fun and we had a great time at our Christmas party.

Computing

For computing drop down day, we learnt about the main parts of a computer. We learnt new words such as components and peripherals; we would love it if our adults asked us what these mean. After that, it was really interesting to open up a computer and identify all of the parts.

PE - Rounders

This half term, we have been learning how to play rounders. We began by learning the basic skills and rules of rounders and by the end of it, we were brilliant players.

Science.

This week during science we were looking at our muscles and how they work. Mr Hopson created a really cool experiment for us to make to show how muscles work, shoring how they contract and relax. We all had lots of fun making our own working arms!

Music.

Whilst looking at dynamics and tempo, we had a go at conducting the class, who were ready with their instruments. The children all did very well!

Science.

In science this half term we have been exploring the human body. We have looked beyond the skin and explored our skeletons. We took some chalk outdoors and created our own bodies on the ground.

Music.

In music this half term we have been learning about tempo, rhythm and dynamics. Some children who have their own instruments demonstrated some of this within the lesson. We all got chance to have turn with an instrument and the children enjoyed this enormously.

R.E - Learning about Jesus and his disciples

This half term, in RE we have been learning about Jesus and his teachings. We have also been looking at who his disciples are. In one lesson, we acted out being disciples, in order to retain the information better. The children found it very interesting.

Forest School.

Please see the forest school page on the website to see more on what we have been up to...
